Blue Spectrum Family Health NP PLLC is a Family Nurse Practitioner Owned Family Practice offering Primary Care and Urgent Care Services via Tele-Health/Video Health and House Call/Concierge Medicine.Our goal is to offer culturally competent care, consultation, and patient education services that are tailored to diverse and traditionally underserved populations. Our providers are skilled in advanced nursing practice and focus on collaborative and patient-centered care delivery for patients in the Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Long Island, and neighboring NY communities. House call/Concierge Medicine services are available on a first come, first serve basis only and require approval by provder prior to scheduling appointment.
What is a Family Nurse Practitioner?
A Family Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has completed advanced nursing education (usually a master’s or doctorate degree) in a nurse practitioner specialty such as Family or Adult/Geriatric nursing practice. As independent providers, Nurse Practitioners may address acute or chronic health problems or provide preventive or supportive care. Nurse Practitioners assess patient needs, diagnose illness/disease, create and prescribe treatment plans, provide patient education, and manage the care of families and individuals across the life span.
Dr. Juan C. Ortiz Calcaño
DNP, FNP-BC
Dr. Juan C. Ortiz Calcaño, DNP, FNP-BC received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Biology from Bucknell University (2004), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst (2009), and Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst (2016). He is Board Certified as Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Dr. Ortiz Calcaño, DNP, FNP-BC completed his Translational Research Project/Capstone for his Doctorate Degree on a culturally-specific education intervention for LGBT persons of color Living with HIV and their Allies, and has a special interest in LGBT patients of color living with HIV or at high risk of acquiring HIV.
